Event Details

Flaming red hair and a defiant grin, Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather is one of the most memorable heroines of recent children’s literature. Her gripping adventures reveal the realities of being poor and being female in Victorian times. Find out more about the dreaded Foundling Hospital! What was life really like for the children who lived there? Learn about pants, gruel, Charter Pudding and javelin throwing.

Join us as we also meet some of the many remarkable people who lived near the hospital walls, including authors, campaigners, pioneers and more than a few suffragettes! On the way we will wave at a few other local, fictional favourites, including a boy who wouldn’t grow up and a boy who wanted some more.

This 90 minute walk takes a circular route, starting and finishing outside the Foundling Museum. Recommended ages 7 – 13 (no unaccompanied children or solo adults please).

FREE – but pre-booking is essential
