When it comes to improving our mental health, we’re often encouraged to show kindness: to ourselves, to others. But how far does the principle of kindness extend into mental health research? In this two-part session, we’ll be exploring this question. As researchers exploring new avenues into better mental health care, how can we commit to being kind in the process?
Part 1: Nurture kindness through more inclusive research Is greater inclusion a way to create kinder mental health research? In this panel session, we’ll hear from participants in the Mental Health Research for All (MH-All) programme, which seeks to support more people to undertake research into mental health. The panel will explore how to break down the barriers into research and showcase the various opportunities on offer to getting involved.
Part 2: Help create a manifesto for kindness in mental health research What might ‘kind research’ for mental health look like in practice? Participants will be invited to share their thoughts through a range of art-based media. We will collate all responses and compose a collective manifesto for Kind Mental Health Research.
