Bloomsbury Radio at The Festival

News

We are pleased to announce that Bloomsbury Radio will be broadcasting throughout the 2020 Festival, 16-25 October, from 3pm to 9pm each day.  We will be working with staff and students from Bloomsbury Institute, other local volunteers and residents to cover the music, theatre, talks and arts across the festival, with interviews and features from artists, academics and participants.

Today we began this exciting new relationship with Bloomsbury Radio with a live broadcast featuring Festival Director, Rosemary Richards, and Bloomsbury Institute’s Arif Zaman, who explained how the radio station will cover the festival, and the benefits it will bring to its host, Bloomsbury Institute.

Volunteers from the local community will be invited to learn new skills at Bloomsbury Radio as part of the festival, and it will be an important tool in our ability to reach the local community, some of whom may not be able to join us at live events this year.  The station already broadcasts online but during the Festival the hours of live broadcast will increase to 6 hours per day with special festival coverage from 3pm to 9pm.  We are also currently applying for an Ofcom licence so hope to be broadcasting via FM to the immediate area.

Rosemary Richards, 2020 Festival Director said
“We are delighted with the partnership between the 2020 Festival and Bloomsbury Institute that will bring a new level of content to Bloomsbury Radio and be a wonderful opportunity for festival events and stories to be spread more widely.”

Arif Zaman from Bloomsbury Institute said
“It is great to see Bloomsbury Festival in 2020 live up to its reputation to be imaginative, immersive and innovative. Bloomsbury Institute are delighted to partner again with Bloomsbury Festival and provide great opportunities for students, residents, visitors and others to connect in so many different ways and discover the best of Bloomsbury at the same time.”

You can listen to Rosemary and Arif’s interview on Bloomsbury Radio each day from 20 – 24 July at 11am and 6pm.
