DISOVERY HUB at Senate House
Schools Visits – Thursday 20 & Friday 21 October

The 2022 Discovery Hub is an interactive exhibition which celebrates the science and creative world of the Bloomsbury area. There will be activities and stalls for students and teachers to take part in, and learn about a variety of scientific subjects related to our 2022 theme ‘Breathe’.  Download our hub flyer for more details.

Organisations such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, UCL, Moorfields Eye Hospital and SOAS will be participating and running activities and stalls. We are also delighted to let you know that Ben Newell, RHS 2022 Gold award winner and Tik Tok content creator, will be demonstrating his mini-garden terrariums, with the Clean Air Community from UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and the Bartlett School of Engineering.

It is a wonderful opportunity for your Key Stage 2 students to explore an exhibition with fun activities, science and creativity from leading institutions and experts – all designed to be suitable for this age group. You can book class groups to visit both the main Exhibition sessions and a vocal Loop Station workshop.

MAIN EXHIBITION SESSIONS
Each session will start with a presentation from Ben Newell. The capacity of each session is 120 pupils approximately – ie 4 class groups – and any school can book up to 2 class groups into the exhibition.
Thursday 20 & Friday 21 October: 10.20 – 11.30am, 11.45am – 12:55pm and 1.30 -2.40pm

VOCAL LOOP STATION WORKSHOP
For single class groups (approximately 30 pupils) – led by the dynamic musician and teacher Camilo Menjura.
Thursday 20 October: 11 – 11.30am, 11.45am – 12.15pm and 12.45 to 1.15pm
Friday 21 October: 9.40 -10.10am, 11 – 11.30am and 11.45am – 12.15pm

For schools out of the immediate area there is also the option to book to watch an online webstream version of the event to be ‘broadcast’ online on the morning of Friday 21 October at 9.30am via a private Youtube link which we will send out on request.
