A transcultural journey with musicians from across world traditions.

Immerse yourself in the sounds of the global Third Orchestra, playing in the round. Walk through the space as the sounds are projected through 12 speakers.

Peter Wiegold’s Third Orchestra have a 360° musical approach, with musicians from right across world cultures. Tonight from China, India, Syria, Zambia, Mexico, Greece, Slovakia playing together with leading UK jazz and classical musicians.

Featuring renowned sound artist Jason Singh and the grace and poetry of vocalist Namvula Rennie’s West African lineage, the music will journey across continents as it cross-crosses the elegant dining hall of Goodenough College.

Jason sounds are drawn from beatboxing to natural landscapes, and he mixes them live across 16 channels. The cutting edge 360° spatial audio technology is linked to a research project the orchestra has been part of at Kings College, London, led by Professor Zoran Cvetkovic.

The orchestra emerged from 100 collaborative events at Club Inégales, London with artists from across the world. Benjamin Zephaniah described it as, ‘a real united nations, and a new approach to music. I just love the way that there's so many people who all find their place with so much freedom to play’.
