Just Turn Up

Come along & join us in making art together. We're running the following workshops - Kintsugi (Japanese) techniques, and a mixed media art workshop

Drop-in Arts Workshops: 11.15 am – 1.30 pm and 2.15 pm – 4.00 pm

Come along & join us in making art together. We're running the following workshops, or you can stay for a full day and evening of activities:

Kintsugi

Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold, highlighting cracks rather than hiding them.

  • In this workshop we'll explore this process, but using paper and gold leaf, whilst also reflecting on what this might mean for each of us.

  • In the words of Leonard Cohen: 'There is a crack, a crack in everything / That’s how the light gets in'

  • This workshop was a great hit at the Bath Festival.

A Bloomsbury Palette

A mixed media art workshop using soft pencil / charcoal / acrylic paint.

  • Come along and try your hand at making art with an experienced artist & workshop leader.

  • No previous experience needed.

With your permission we would love to show your work on the day as part of our exhibition of artwork.

Contemplative Space
Throughout the day this space will be available to encourage you to take some time out in stillness.

Drop-in for guided contemplative sessions from 11.30 am - 12.30 & 3.30 - 4.30 pm.

Exhibition of Quilts by Fine Cell Work
A display of quilts produced by people in prison and prison-leavers

Guided Walks
Throughout the day, we'll be running circular guided walks of the local area, starting and ending at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church.
Places are limited, so we urge you to book ahead.
The walks last an hour and are led by Robert Kingham of Minimum Labyrinth.

We invite you to explore Bloomsbury’s unique character & history with us through arts

workshops and a guided walk around the neighbourhood. All abilities and experience are

encouraged to participate!

With your permission we would love to show your work on the day as part of our rolling

exhibition that's also showing art by people with experience within the prison system - and

those who support them.

We are also putting a range of quilts on display in collaboration with Fine Cell Work .This

is just one example of the wonderful work produced by people in prison and prison

leavers.

Later in the day we will host a reception with a live performance of music and poetry - to

celebrate and enjoy the creativity of each and every one of us. Please come and discover
