A live music performance featuring the kanklės, a traditional Lithuanian folk instrument.
This live performance features the kanklės traditional Lithuanian plucked string instrument deeply rooted in folk heritage, historically used in storytelling, rituals, and communal music-making. Its sound and long history reflects the landscapes and cultural identity of the Baltic region.
The programme features Emilija Karaliute alongside violinist Natalia Wierzbicka, combining solo works, duo performances, improvisation, and selected classical repertoire. Together, the kanklės and violin create a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression, combining folk influences with classical music and spontaneous improvisation.
This performance offers audiences an opportunity to experience something unique and not often heard, both in the kanklės’ traditional context and in new musical settings, highlighting its versatility.
