Join graphic designer Craig Yamey for an intensive two-hour workshop exploring the fundamentals of poster design, visual communication and storytelling.

Step into the world of radical poster design and explore how graphic design can be used as a powerful tool for ethics, activism and social change. Drawing inspiration from Conway Hall Ethical Society’s extensive archive of original 1970’s posters, this intensive two-hour workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of poster layout, visual communication and message-driven design.

Led by graphic designer Craig Yamey, you will create your own original poster based around an ethical issue or cause that matters to you. Through discussion, sketching and creative experimentation, the workshop explores how typography and composition can give voice to ideas, tell stories and inspire change.

This is a hands-on workshop with no computers or design software required. Working with pre-printed lettering, stencils, hand drawn type and simple design techniques, you will learn by arranging and experimenting with physical materials. No previous graphic design experience is necessary - the workshop is accessible to complete beginners as well as those with a creative background.

Craig Yamey is a London based graphic designer with more than 30 years’ experience in print design and visual communication. He studied at Central Saint Martins, where he specialised in creative typography, and has built a varied career working across branding, publishing, packaging and cultural design.

Craig is the founder and creative director of MUSEO DESIGN, a studio recognised for its distinctive and imaginative work for leading cultural institutions including the British Library, Houses of Parliament and the Science Museum. Drawing inspiration from archives, decorative arts and historical storytelling, his work reinterprets historical material in contemporary and engaging ways. Alongside his studio practice, he has lectured at the London College of Communication and delivered design workshops at the V&A.
