Just Turn Up

Explore how children grow and learn through hands-on activities at Birkbeck on friendship, language, play, the brain and more.

Are you interested in how our brains develop? Curious how children make sense of the complex and ever-changing world around them? Our free, interactive event will explore the great advances achieved in understanding child development with activities for 2-10 year olds. Visit our research stalls at Birkbeck and learn or do a mini study about friendship, sensory processing, language development, play, prosocial behaviour and the brain! Stalls will feature some of the cutting-edge technology we use in our child development research such as portable eye-tracking, wireless fNIRS (a form of non-invasive neuroimaging) and child-friendly touchscreen tasks. We will also have stalls for adults to learn more about the type of research being undertaken at the Babylab & Toddlerlab and hear where they hope developmental science will go in the future.
