First-time directors from the Sahrawi Refugee camps explore how their culture has changed after 50 years of enforced displacement. World Premiere screening of films and a Q&A. Organised by IRSAAN, UCL and UAL

“What We Were and What We Are” is an event centered on a World Premiere screening of documentary films made by first-time directors from the Sahrawi Refugee camps. The young filmmakers have made works about their elders and how the Sahrawi culture has changed after 50 years of enforced displacement. The event will also comprise of talks and opportunities for Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and members of IRSAAN a Sahrawi led health charity based in the camps.
