Event Details
The history of St Giles is one of extraordinary human perseverance and ingenuity. The streets of this part of central London have played host to some of our country’s greatest artists, thinkers and innovators. Many of them came from elsewhere, but for a time at least they called St Giles their home.
This walking tour takes you to the places associated with some of these creators and introduces you to their stories. Across the span of its history, the St Giles neighbourhood was associated with a wide variety of trades and movements – so this is a story that takes in a diverse range of people – from printers, to cartoonists, portrait painters to philosophers. Encounter Mary Wollstonecraft, Augustus Pugin and other, lesser known names, as we walk the streets of the West End.
Heritage event supported by Chestertons.
