Event Details

Facility 111 is a surreal new audio play, written/performed live by Inge-Vera Lipsius. It takes place in darkness and asks audiences to visualise a series of images in two different, but interconnected cities—one made of glass, another of sand. The piece takes the form of a (sci-fi) government experiment and asks: Are we, ultimately, less different from one another than we might think?

Facility 111 premiered at Assembly during the Edinburgh Fringe 2025:
Lyn Gardner’s Top 20 Picks for the Fringe
“Simultaneously serene and disconcerting, and among the best theatre shows you’ll see on the Fringe” The Scotsman ★★★★
“Might just linger in your mind long after the lights (or lack thereof) go down” Theatre Weekly ★★★★

Inge-Vera Lipsius is an American-Dutch writer-director. She has staged sold-out productions in London and Amsterdam. Her play Quad Loop – the first play on the Kamila Valieva doping scandal at the 2022 Winter Olympics – was one of six pieces presented at the Bush Theatre in the Bomb Factory Theatre New Writing Showcase (April 2025). Quad Loop had its UK premiere at Pushkin House, Bloomsbury (2024). Lipsius made her directorial debut at The Merchant House, Amsterdam, with Paranoia (2022/23) – her adaptation of the classic Dutch novella by W.F. Hermans. She studied at the University of Cambridge and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France.

Part of Bloomsbury Festival’s New Wave programme, a platform for emerging talent.
