Event Details
Featuring emerging artists shortlisted as part of the Festival’s Art Prize 2025:
Jasmine Hextall (Kingston University)
An evocative exhibition of underwater photography that documents ceramic vessels placed beneath the surface of Manx waters. As a fully qualified BSAC scuba diver and with three marine biologists in her family, Jasmine draws deep inspiration from both personal experience and scientific insight. The exhibition explores the complex relationship between humans and the natural world, using a diverse range of materials, including photography, film, and ceramics. Highlighting the impact of human interference on marine ecosystems.
Influenced by Jacques Cousteau and the spirit of the explore, Silent World captures Jasmine’s own adventures of exploring the seabed floor. These adventures ultimately end up raising critical questions about our role in environmental degradation and what more must be done to restore balance and promote conservation.
Rooted in her deep connection to the sea and the ecological heritage of the Isle of Man, Silent World invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconsider their relationship with nature. Through her art, Jasmine aims to spark curiosity and inspire others to engage more thoughtfully with the natural environment.
A Bloomsbury Festival Production supported by The Bedford Estates as part of the New Wave programme, a platform for emerging talent.
Holborn Library is a Festival Hub, with Exhibitions in Library foyer and Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre (2nd floor), plus Saturday family book focus.
