A Communal Table of Threads and Stories
Ever wondered how to keep your cherished family recipes and traditions alive for future generations? Do certain ingredients evoke special memories for you?
Join Mei Lock for a creative workshop where you’ll learn to stitch and paint on printed fabrics, crafting your own recipe story.
In this 2-hour workshop, Mei will introduce her practice and her inspiration for her work. This will be followed by demonstrations of a few simple stitch and textile techniques to help you create your own recipe story.
This hands-on workshop is suitable for all levels – no prior stitching or painting experience needed. All materials and supplies will be provided, including needles, threads and fabric. Mei will offer a variety of pre-printed fabrics featuring common kitchen essentials like salt, ketchup, and mustard. If you have a specific ingredient in mind that you’d like to incorporate, feel free to bring along images or empty packaging to personalize your creation
