This programme consisting of Peter Sculthorpe’s Night Pieces, Schubert’s Impromptus Op.90 and Scriabin’s Fantasie in B minor is inspired by the Aboriginal Concept of Songlines which are musical paths that map journeys across the land, connecting place, story and memory.
In these traditions, music isn’t just an art; it’s a way of navigating the world, remembering traditions and connecting to the land and its sprit. These pieces reflect the spirit of the Songlines in many different ways, echoing timeless journeys through sound and story. With their shifting moods and textures, they bring the listener to experience movement across landscapes, with moments of reflection, discovery and transformation along the way.
Part of Bloomsbury Festival’s New Wave programme, a platform for emerging talent.
