This recital for unaccompanied violin traces three distinct musical paths, each shaped by a unique voice and era.
Bach’s Partita No. 2 begins the journey with a deeply personal meditation, culminating in the monumental Chaconne—a piece often seen as an emotional odyssey through grief, struggle, and transcendence. Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 2 picks up Bach’s legacy, quoting his music while pushing into a more restless, modern soundworld. It’s both a tribute and a reflection of Ysaÿe’s dual identity as a virtuoso and composer, blending tradition with innovation. Finally, Paganini’s variations on “Nel cor più non mi sento” take us in a completely different direction—bold, flamboyant, and full of theatrical flair. Here, the violin becomes a showman, dazzling with technical brilliance and dramatic flair. Together, these works span introspection, homage, and sheer virtuosity—each revealing a different facet of the violin’s expressive power.
